1 Mar 2012; Jos 10

Joshua 10
At that time Joshua spoke to the LORD in the day when the LORD gave the Amorites over to the sons of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, “Sun, stand still at Gibeon, and moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” And the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, until the nation took vengeance on their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jashar? The sun stopped in the midst of heaven and did not hurry to set for about a whole day. There has been no day like it before or since, when the LORD heeded the voice of a man, for the LORD fought for Israel. So Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp at Gilgal.(Joshua 10:12-15 ESV)

Joshua spoke to the Lord to the sons of Israel. That was 1 leader asking the Lord to have the sun stand still in front of thousands of fighting men. These men must be listening and thinking.

Either they were laughing at Joshua to think that he is mad and if the Lord did not answer that questions they will lose faith in Joshua.

Or they are thinking that why should the Lord listen to a man.

If you have no God to ask, it make no difference if you are asking, because there will be no one to answer you anything.

If you have a God and you ask but dont believe, then it make no difference if you don't ask because you will not receive anything.

If you ask, the Lord will listen.

I will want to consider that when Joshua asked the Lord, they were thinking .. Joshua can ask, but they are watching to see if the Lord will answer. If the Lord failed to answer, they will not lose faith in Joshua but in the Lord.

The Lord will act and it is not about ask that He should answer our prayers but He is who He is and for His name sake...

So, when we ask do we know who are we presenting the request? We are asking the creator of heaven and earth, do we believe this God for who He is for something that we are not sure if we are to receive?

Wow. That is my God, the Lord who listen, who choose to bless not for what or who I am, but because of simply He loves us - that what God is. Amen.
