12 Nov - Ezekiel 24-26; Hebrews 11:1-16; Psalm 110; Proverbs 27:14
Heb talked about faith. Two important principles.
1. 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
2. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
God - the alpha and the beginings. It is the faith that we have we understand that the universe was created by the word of God. That is a full stop and no more argument of who created God. He is the ALPHA! Nothing comes before alpha.
Principle one points to the promises of God. He is the author of faith. He bless us with promises and with great assurance of a salvation plan in Jesus. Have we reached there yet - no. It is not possible to be there yet and therefore we need faith, the assurance that we will get there. Jesus said - believe Him who sent me. Just believe.
But what make us trust in this God. God is the omega. The end. He knew the end. Finish well in Him. That is why he called us to put the hope in Him. We have not reached the end, but He knew the end - therefore faith called us to put hope and be convicted for God will and promise the good end for us.
How can we gain this faith? Principle 2. "for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him."
We have believe - that is already the first step. Faith grew as we draw near to God. As we draw near, we believe, we receive as we seek and that is how our faith grew. Heb talked about the examples. Abraham was called - believe and God bless. He saw that God began to fulfil His promise through Issac and faith grew, though he died without having seen his decendants as numberous as the sand.
Believe - hope and trust, faith grows!

besides hope and trust -- the exercise of faith is also crucial to the growing of faith.
God puts us in circumstances where we can exercise faith, and at the end of it,as we see how god has worked and provided, our faith in him grows.
it is always scary taking the first step. The plunge into the unknown.
No wonder Abraham is called man of righteouness when he followed god by faith into the unknown.
