6 Dec 2010; 2 Sam 24

2 Sam 24:
This is the last chapter of Samuel.

It ended with a low key in David's life. But one atttitude about him, is that he was conscience stricken after he counted his fighting men. When the plague fell on the people, he pleaded that they were sheeps, innocent, let him and his family suffer the what the wrong he has done.

Idle
When David idle, something bad happen. Lust took over him and this time pride and a show of power and status. Let our mind be active, active in the works of our Lord.

Mercy
David choose the mercy of God over the mercy of men. He knew very well the nature of God - His grace, mercy, forgiveness... but for men - David knew the dark side in them.

v14 Let us fall into the hand of the Lord, for his mercy is great; but let me not fall into the hand of man.”

Companssion
17 Then David spoke to the Lord when he saw the angel who was striking the people, and said, “Behold, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly. But these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand be against me and against my father's house.”
What is our attitude towards evil? and the suffering of others? It is about then our root in this God of Love. If there is no love, evil acts will be "fun".

The story of John, ended in the same way Peter was cast out. But John last chapter wrote about the restoration of Peter.

In the same way, David was restored after he
25 And David built there an altar to the Lord and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the Lord responded to the plea for the land, and the plague was averted from Israel.

It is about God and how we keep close to Him. Depart from me and I am nothing. Remain in Him. God is the everlasting God. If God were to end the stroy of David and Peter in such a low key, where is the hope in Christ? His faithfulness, His love for us and His mercy. The restoration is about these character of our loving God.
