Prov 2
The fear of the Lord? v5
In Hebrew, the word is yara'
It has the meaning
Dread, terror - Deut 1:29; Jon 1:10
To stand in awe (in reference to a king) - 1Ki 3:28
To revere, to respect (in regards to parents) - Lev 19:3
The understanding of this fear, gives knowledge of God.
v6 Knowledge is associate with understanding
v6 Both knowledge and understanding is given by the wisdom of God
It is not the dread of God, but of course this dread prevent us from sinning. This fear has to be to stand in awe, to revere and to respect.
How can then this wisdom -> knowledge and understanding to obtain?
v1 receive my words
v2 make your ear attentive
v3 call out
v4 seek it like silver
v4 search for it
It all speaks about a desire, a deep desire to as if finding a treasure (v1, v4), finding silver (v4)
So that for the literal. THAT treasure is found in v1 if you receive my words
The words of God brings about the knowledge of the giver of the word - God. Therefore an understanding of the word, is about knowing who God is.
The fear of the Lord is develop through the word of God.
The fear of the Lord is also about reading the words with properly used and maintain a balance - To avoid extremes we must read all of God's Word. Know the word and use the word.
It therefore dwell in our desire to get into the words. Let the words stand out and wow and wow about God. Amen.
