Rev 6
This chapter is about opening of the 7 seals. 6 are mentioned in chapter 6.
The first 4 is about conquer, unpeacefulness, unfairness, death.
The 5th is a contrast - 10 They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” 11 Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants [3] and their brothers [4] should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been.
The 6th - to me- is an irony.
When David was given a choice to choose between judgement from men or from God, he choose the later.
The first 4 seal saw great wrath and great distress on earth. When the 5th seal was to open, the people (whom they knew God) cried and God instead like the former seal (sending each a wrath), stop and gave His mercy to these people.
The irony came in the 6th seal. there is earthquake. The people instead of calling to God like those in the 5th seal called to the mountains and hills for help.
15 Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave [5] and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, 16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
I choose to be like the people in the 5th seal. They called out to God and surprisingly this is the only seal with no wrath!
I have work to do, which I don't know. I have a family to provide, to lead, which I need guidance. BUT I have a God, whom I can called out to - pray, pray pray.
Running to the mountains and the hills to hide away from the wrath is not a solution in the long term, for in verse 17, still the great day of their wrath has come, who can stand.
Run to God, pray pray pray.
