What is the fear of the Lord? It is more than reverence, respect and the afraid of doing the wrong things..
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, wisdom and instruction.
What then should we fear God? It is the simple sins that God hate. It is that that he wants us to stay away.
One of the sins is envy.
By envy it makes me want what my peer has been appointed, the status that they are in, the material things they have, their achievement...
I know I can also be, pride takes in.
The antidote is then not contentment but humility. It is the learning that the ability that God has made someone better for a better purpose. Promotion comes from the Lord. It is then finding your contentment in Christ. Coming to Him for the lack, the shortfall and even for the negative feelings, instead o falling into the sins of envy,
When you fear God, you fear nothing else.
Some references about the fear of the God from the book of Proverbs
1:29
3:7
8:13
14:2
15:33
16:6
22:4
23:17
24:21-22
The fear of the Lord is such that we may hate evil, not just the first step to wisdom. It is more than reverence for the Lord. For apart from these there is no fear.
Some sins, 8:13, ride, arrogance, the way of evil or evil behavior, perverted speech.
6:16
There are six things that the Lord hates,
Say no to sins, and forget that God hate sins. Sins violates His Holiness, corrupts His purposes, rob us of every power and peace that God intended for us.

It is a strong emotion that one seeks to process a quality or something.
14:30 Envy rot the bone
3:31 Envy a man of violence
If we are process someone or something other than god, it is idolatry.
Why are we envy of sinners? Sinners can do whatever they want, free to do, seems attractive. Pleasure and freedom.
Do we really want that or are we after a value of oneness that if for God and refuse what unwholesome pleasure and freedom brings that satisfy the temporal emotion?
It is instead, Christ centered-ness. Values that is after Jesus. The story of Lot which I read yesterday, come near to sin, pleasure and be satisfy and telling yourself that I will not be drawn into it, is another lies. The sins will draw you in and you will be stuck.
I pray for that desire to be satisfy temporally, the feeling of great temporal, but instead focus my thoughts and prayers for the family, that Christ value.
We have destiny in Christ. Christ is the judge of all man and not be envy in the temporal success around us.
Envy is the daughter of pride, anger, virtue,
23:17 How then to overcome envy - be jealous for God. Be zealous for the things of God.
Besides, saying No to sins, we must also say Yes to the savior. Saying No is preventive. Saying Yes to Jesus is proactive, start doing something else that stop doing that wrong things.
16:6 Love and faithful sins is atone for, though Jesus that we draw strength and knowing that there is forgiveness. Do not carry these sins on our shoulder, not upon our merits, but Christ remove them all by His blood.
Therefore remove sins because we have Christ.
The antidote to envy are: Not just contentment. Contentment is a state of being. But being able to get to that state we need humility.
Humility is the ability to come under a higher authority, subject ourselves to Christ.
1Pet 5:6
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,
Cast all our care to Him. Knowing that Christ takes care of my life. When someone is promoted and you are not, I am envy and am tempt in envy to do what and like the sinners. But the cast on God leads to the knowledge that God cares and I am well under the authority of God, who is above all. I am contented.
If you fear God
15:32 Humility comes before honor.
24:21-22 You will respect those in authorities.
The fear of the Lord, requires us to act decisive to sins, but just say no, but proactive remove it through Christ.
His Love and Faithfulness will keep us. His peace and refuge will keep us. Love our savior faithfully and deal with sins decisively.
What I do in the day, I have to account to God at the end of the day (the story of Raja).
