Pass it on
We all started well and desire to end well. Sometines we failed to end well. Even so, we succeed in what we do but ended with no successor!
We ought to recognize that God has intended for us to start well, end well and also to pass it on. T0 do so, we need to know that we need to build to last and thereby leaving a profound legacy.
Rachael in her blog wrote about Josef and yes, it is my concern. Indeed, our values and our priorities, and the things that we build, should pass it on. Our children is our best legacy take over. I pray that they will be able to laid a firm foundation in the Lord and thus prepare them for the future walk with you. I pray that you help us and let be recognized the need to pass them on to our children.
In OT, Saul said something which is very disturbing. 1 Sam 20:“You son of a perverse, rebellious woman, do I not know that you have chosen the son of Jesse to your own shame, and to the shame of your mother's nakedness? 31 For as long as the son of Jesse lives on the earth, neither you nor your kingdom shall be established. Therefore send and bring him to me, for he shall surely die.”
Saul as a father has the interest of his son, Johnathan. He wanted to make sure that the kingdom is established and pass it on to Johnathan, despite knowing well that God has chosen David. Johnathan on the other, chose David instead of the throne - rebellious and no wonder Saul was angry.
The key was to note that it has to be centered in God. You can have a big business or a big establishment, but if it not anchored in Christ, the legacy that pass it on is not so much worth it. Passing it on, may not do so much good to your children. A good legacy is based on a firm value foundation in Christ. Therefore this legacy may not necessary be of worldly material in nature.
I pray that the Lord will establish the work of my hand and that the value foundation be laid proper. In doing so, let it be a godly legacy for my children.
