27 Mar 2014; A Reminder

27 Mar 2014; A Reminder

Reading again from Rev 19: 20-21

And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. And the rest were slain by the sword that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and all the birds were gorged with their flesh. (Revelation 19:20-21 ESV)

I was reminded about the bride (the Church, us, Christian) to be made ready for the lamb. What is made ready? The bride has been engaged to the groom, who will be away for a year and will come back. So any time within the year, the groom will come. And when he come it is usually in the evening - and there will be a celebration - marriage supper (when do we eat supper - evening and after dinner).

At the end, what matters to the bride is the coming of the groom. If the bride is away or is too busy with the things of the world and miss out the groom - the marriage may be over.

Invest not of the things of this world - not in what is pleasing to the eyes, not in what is pleasurable, not in gathering and storing up wealth, status or power - because these are the deception of the false prophet and the beast. They who received the mark becomes part of the world. Their end will not last.

I was reminded to invest - in the matters of the heart, the matters of God - Psalm 19:1

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. (Psalm 19:1 ESV)

We are to glorify God and proclaim his works (the gospel). Of course Psalm 19:1 speaks about the awe of God - the heaven declare and we see for ourselves the wonders of God everywhere and especially in the sky (including space).

I recall asking God and pray that I may retire at the age of 45. What then is retiring? Enjoying the work, while and be able to spend time with God, with family and building relationship with people. God is in the people business - the heart business. And this is where the investment should be. Retiring means working - and there is no difference from not retiring. The end is the same, the focus is the same - build dividends in the kingdom of God.

My worry is about material provision - income. Lord bless my hand - in doing work that enable me to have more time and less stress from work. That is retirement. The Lord will provide and I do not have to struggle for a living. I pray for that retirement. Amen.
