10 Aug - Ezra 10; 1 Corinthians 6; Psalm 31:9-18; Proverbs 21:3
In the OT, it talked about v3 "Therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all these wives and their children, "; v11 "Separate yourselves from the peoples of the land and from the foreign wives.”"; Lucky I am not a woman, so sad and like what the Chinese verse "ta ru leng gong" - put these woman into cold chambers, then marry Jewess wife.
If you read in these context and you literally decide to confess your sins and put away your foreign wifes the divorce rate will go up, too bad.
On the other hand, if you choose not to read the apply the words for words, who are our foreign wives? The NT today talked about sexual immorarity. In fact, an over induglence in anything is bad.
Lord, I pray, even as I look at what Ezra is doing, after 70 years, it is not the physical coming back, but a heart that repent. Search deep in my heart and help me contiune in process and progress, to remove the foreign objects (sins) in my heart.
