12 Aug - Nehemiah 3:15-5:13; 1 Corinthians 7:25-40; Psalm 32; Proverbs 21:5-7

In the OT, the people faced opposition, the first taunting from the enemies, the second threats from the enemies and the third thrife from the internal within the Hebrews.

Taking a closer look at the internal thrife, the builders and the repairers of the walls were told by their wifes to get back home - they were needed to tend the farm, their own household, wife and children. They were needed to settle bread on the table and other basic finanical issues. What is more setback than that.

What will you do, if the people you are leading are rebelling against you? How are you going to motivate them in such a case when the problem is dealing with the basics and the fundamental of finance and family? Nehemiah, in the most miraculous way, find that the problem lies within - an exploitation of the rich on the poor. I don't know how he did it, but I believe in all his wisdom and in what he did best - pray, just the way I believe in the same way, he prayed when he spoke to the king about his request to return to Judah.

I pray that I learn from the heartbeat of Nehemiah, the way he lead, the way he preservere facing all the problems. He was singled minded - rebuilding the wall and rebuilding the people.

seems that prayer is a key issue here
